notes from the hospital bed

Well, here I am. Sitting in the hospital again. This is the third admission during the pregnancy. This time, I was admitted on Friday afternoon for having low amniotic fluid. They hooked me up to a fetal heart monitor, a contraction monitor and an IV. The purpose was to try to increase my blood volume by increasing my fluid intake (no, I was not dehydrated)-by increasing my blood volume, it would in turn increase Ceci's blood volume and make her urinate more, which would create more amniotic fluid. Apparently, this didn't happen though. I have been on bed rest for the past 3 days and today's ultrasound showed that the amniotic fluid had not increased, but decreased. Dr. Brown came at 1:00 today and was ticked off that they had not taken me down for the test yet. Within about 15 minutes, I was carted off to the ultrasound room. They measured all of her organs, watched her move and breath and then measured the fluid. The technician was not able to measure my cervix because Ceci's head was so far down in the birth canal. This is reassuring since I have been feeling so much pressure down there. On Friday, I was measuring 1-2 cm dilated and "thinned out" so I am hoping that I have progressed. At this point, I am waiting to hear back from the doctor so that we can find out whether or not we will have this baby tomorrow. Even if I am not having the baby this week though, I will be sent home on bed rest for the at least the next week, if not two. I guess we will just have to wait and see. Say your prayers for a healthy baby!!! More later!
